I think this is what will happen over dumba. While it could just be speculation, Russo has talked about on his podcast numerous times about Seattle like soucy as a dman over dumba, & especially that Seattle loves soucy cap which has 3 mil along with them thinking soucy has more room to grow than dumba

Kaprizov will cost more on an 8 year deal. I think he signs for something like 5 years, $7.5M AAV. I'm sure Guerin will push for 8 years but Kaprizov and his agent can cash out big-time after a 5 year deal when he's 28 so I'd be surprised if they're willing to go 8 years.

Ek would cost more as well with that term, 4 years around $4.5M AAV sounds about right.

Same thing with Fiala, he'll cost more. Probably signs for $6M AAV, 4-5 years.

I wouldn't give Greenway that type of term. I think he's traded this offseason if I'm being honest. He's a good player, but I think he suffers from the "Coyle effect" where you're always left wanting more out of him.

I have no idea what Kahkonen will cost, but my guess is a 3 year bridge deal around $3M assuming he isn't exposed and taken by Seattle.

Of course terms are negotiable.

I don't see the Coyle effect with Greenway. Coyle was (and still is) an on/off switch, no in-between. Greenway plays a consistent game night in and night out. Coyle had more talent/upside than Greenway. Colye never lived up to it, where Greenway is getting close to his ceiling.

I think this year was the year the NHL game clicked for him (like JEE last year). I'm hoping next year Greenway gets a little more selfish and starts shooting more.

I dont think Parise is in the team by that time. I just did not want to buy him out here to avoid discussion on that topic.

I'm not referring to consistency. Greenway has been fine but I feel like he has much more potential than he's shown and much like Coyle I don't think he'll reach it. I'd love to be wrong, of course.

I don't think there is much more to Greenway's potential other than adding goal scoring. He doesn't have a high end shot, speed, or great hands for passing.

I would like him to play a more physical game tbh (yes, even more physical).

Sure, but he's huge and he could use his body to create way more space for his linemates, but that's just not his game. He does it to an extent, but he'd be a lot better if he did it more.

There are the lines of clean/dirty and smart/dumb physical. So far he's on the clean and smart side of things. Fighting isn't a skill he has shown, and really the only guys he'd be fighting are ones that do. Getting his face smashed by Reaves isn't something good for him or the team.

Once his d-zone coverage gets better (it's not great) the chances to throw the big open ice hits like Foligno and Dumba will happen.

He's not really playing with skill players though. The last thing that line needs to do is get cute. Just look at all the goals JEE/Foligno scored within 4 foot of the goal this year, they were wide open on lots of them.

He opens up a lot of ice, but there isn't a Fiala or Kaprizov to make good use of it. MN doesn't have a Makar their d-corps to make the other team look silly with all that room to play with.
