0% certainty that R Johnson is anything in the NHL

Don't mean to be a negative Nellie in sector G but

He's a solid prospect and that's about it right now

All told this is one of the better AGMs here lately

Oddly it's more sensible and balanced than most

I clicked on it expecting something crazy 🤕☹😥

I disagree, i see a lot of potential and baring GM KA looking this post for inspiration, I'm excited to see him in a Sabres uniform in the next season or 2. I think he's going to be the #2 LHD behind Dahlin

I'd easily sell him at potential top 4 guy value but this is not it, like that package is barely enough for Eichel.

LA says no. Change Byfield to Turcotte and they consider it.

LA does not want to move Byfield, we all know this. I consider Byfield to be currently worth aprox 1.5-2 1st round picks, not saying top 5 pics, just an avg.

Is Eichel a good substitution for Byfield ? Of course.

Eichel is ONLY 24, signed long term, getting better every season barring his injury last yr, and will constantly be a top 10 player in the NHL for years.

Byfield is a roll of the dice at this point, will he be a star ? Probbaly, but Eichel is an Elite talent NOW.

Additionally, with possibly having the #1 pick and knowing you'd be getting Powers, you solidified your Left side for yrs to come with Dahlin, Powers, Samuelson, and Bryson.

Johnson becomes expendable. Will I be content with him as the #3 LHD, 10000%, but I like Samuelsson size and physicality.

Then end of the conversation, Kings brass has clearly indicated Byfield is not a movable piece.

His skating ability alone virtually guarantees that he will play in the NHL. Whether his offense grows or not will determine whether he will be a 7th D man or a top 4 guy. I despised the pick at the time but he has really grown on me, especially after watching him at the WJC. However, we did pass on Pinto, Kaliyev, Fatgemo, and Robertson sooo
