What Could have Been if Bergevin Did Things Right

Created by: nickthehabsfan

Description
It seems like Bergevin's time as GM is coming to an end, so I looking at what could have been if he did the retool right starting the summer of 2018. To be fair MB did do somethings right, but he also messed somethings up, so I'll be looking at the bad things.

Maybe with a D core that can move the puck the Habs might actually be good?

The only bad thing Bergevin did is the 2017 offseason
That offseason he let Radulov Markov walk, we lost Emelin to Vegas, traded Beaulieu AND Sergachev for Drouin. We drafted Kotkaniemi because we didn’t have any center outside Danault and Poehling so it’s understandable, but let say we draft Tkachuk instead of Kotkaniemi. That would be a way better team but it’s too late now.

How are the Weber Price Anderson contracts not in the "never signed /acquired" category though like 😐 that's basically the only major issue with this team

With that cap space they easily bolster scoring etc.

JKK instead of QHu isn't huge given Quinn's defensive issues and his very likely ascension in years to come and McLeod and Ylonen don't seem too far apart

Meanwhile they have ~23M$ of aging mediocrity 😬

Each deal was very preventable, yeah, even price ✔

Eh Quinn & Petry one of the best NHL D duos

      Still 7M$ in cap unspent

Ironically they need a backup *ahem* Allen 🧐

Anderson I like and Weber and Price were before summer of 2018.

1 single nixed trade would fixed a lot of MTL"s issues. Drouin for Sergachev.........

      That was his big mistake.

for sure. Thats the one trade I would reverse the most, but it was before 2018, which is why it isn't included here.

I'll be honest, most of what he did since 2018 has either been decent or not significant enough to even mention. IMHO its everything prior to 2018 that has ruined the Canadiens.

      It's not a trade it's a reversal
