Secondly, yes, his offence hasn’t lived up to expectations in these playoffs. But the guy still has 4 points in 6 games. And his line has the most shots of any Leafs’ line. Also hasn’t been scored on 5on5.

Leafs fans need a scapegoat every single year. Someone to blame to make themselves feel better. Gardiner, Andersen, Nylander, Marner, whoever else.

Matthews hasn’t been any better, but for the most part, that’s ignored because “he’s the best player”

There’s more than one issue. And they’re not all Marner.

The physicality disappeared. Simmonds is skating around out there looking like a marshmallow.
Costly giveaways.
Inability to finish anything (hits, scoring chances, etc..)
Not showing up until the last 10 minutes.
Again, Matthews is just as invisible.

Look Marner has a ton a value but no one is going to take on a 10+ million dollar contract without having significant money coming back . Dubas has screwed up giving a huge contract, should of signed him to 9 million max.

I completely agree, but you can't just keep the same core with a few tweaks and expect different results. I love marner more than anyone, he's genuinely one of my favourite players, but somethings gotta change or else were just gonna keep getting bounced from the first round every year.
