Ugh. If the Oilers buy out Mikko Koskinen and James Neal, then the Oilers will have $5m in dead cap :( It might be worth it if they could sign some UFA wingers who can score and add depth.

But I do not see Blake Coleman re-signing with Tampa Bay because of their cap issues. He is a pretty sil I also wonder if Hoffman might be a good triggerman for McDavid. But knowing Holland, he will probably try to sign Tomas Tatar because he always comes back to players he has already worked with.

This should be wonderful for Holloway, Broberg and Benson to halt their development completely. Also a right shot good 3rd or 4th line center is certainly a need.

Bottom 6 is still bad imo, and why trade Jones if you don't have to. Jones will most likely be gone in the expansion draft anyways

We need more than that especially if Nuge walks. To me, Hoffman Is a no go, because he can’t play defence. He lives on the PP. I’m thinking maybe Saad, or Hyman would be our best bet. If all else fails, then Tatar. We desperately need a 3c, so I’m thinking of Erik Haula, or Luke Glendening. We also need a starting goalie, which I believe Holland will go for Petr Mrazek... but I hope for Linus Ullmark. I have never been a fan of Chris Driedger.

Why would this halt their development to make the team? You feel that they should be in Bakersfield? I could see that with Holloway and Broberg. But I think Benson is more than ready and has been for some time.

Good points. With goalies you really never know. Who would have pegged Smith to shine like he did this year? Who would have picked Koskinen's game to fall off so bad? Remember the chorus of people wanting to sign Markstrom, Holtby, and Korpisalo, etc. over the summer?

Benson just turned 23 and is still to young to be an everyday scratch. If this is your thought process, send him to Bako to play 22 minutes a night.

Solid team, but you've overpaid most of the guys. Blows my mind how many people on here want to throw HUGE money and term at a goalie that has just 41 games of NHL experience. No NHL GM would do that.

You need to add Kahun to the equation too though - you got next to nothing for Jones and now you've lost two decent young players.

Oh I see your point now. Yeah, I would have Benson in the lineup and ease Broberg and Holloway into the lineup. But yeah, it might make more sense to have the latter two in the AHL and call up Marody. Defensemen often need many years in the minors, but not forwards, IMO. At some point in the minors forwards stop "developing" and stagnate. I honestly do not see how much better Benson/Marody would be after another year in the minors. They are as ready as they are ever going to be.
