need way more value for teams to consider it (rather lose 1 roster player than 2)

COL has zero interest in 2021 picks, the value of the trade isn’t remotely close, so in this case it is 2 strikes and you are out.

If the Leafs want to move on from Kerfoot, and have a cheaper replacement at 3C, they do it. But really "expansion reasons" isn't a good reason. The Leafs and all teams still lose a player.
