As a Canucks fan, I think it’s a steal for us. Probably makes sense even if you take out Holtby

What's the average cost to move up 15 spots especially from a late 1st round pick into a 10 pick?

Toronto had too move salary Vancouver doesn't.
Toronto was a late 1st for 6.5mil to be boughtout and even then Dubas overpaid

Look at last yr. Detroit got a 2nd for 5.6 mil, Ottawa gave a 2nd for 6.5 avv though the actual salary was 2mil

What about taking out one of Roussel or Beagle? Holtby might be useful to the Devils.

Your proposal is actually quite good. To move up that much from a late 1st round pick to a top 10 1st round is about an extra two 2nd round picks, some years (maybe not this) plus maybe a 3rd round or a middling prospect depending on draft depth.

Loui dump is mid 2nd round pick. Holtby may actually fetch a 6th round pick even at his price as he only has 1 year left is not that bad a backup as the Canucks for the most part played horribly last year. If not he could be dumped for a 3rd or even possibly a 4th round pick for the reasons I mentioned. Roussel is a dump and should be no more than a 4th round pick. Beagle most likely will start the year on LTIR and no one knows if he will be able to play at all next year.

So if you took out Beagle the trade is quite fair considering the overall talk is that there is a drop after the top 10 and another after the next 7.
