Description
This is about as optimistic as a Devils fan could get in terms of draft returns and who falls to those spots. Still fun making it though.

          They could be.
If they want to re-sign RNH and Klefbom returns, cap space will be tight.

EDIT: They are actually in OK shape.

The only way I’m moving that pick, is if you are taking Neal.

Yup, trading out of the first round for 1 year of savings on Koskinen isn't worth it (and we'd still have to sign another goalie). And Turris only costs $500k to bury.

Sharks would rather buy out Jones and keep the pick I'm guessing.

So the sharks give up a top ten pick to get a goalie back equally as bad as Jones? We only lose half the salary it’s so much easier to just buy him out. I’d do this deal if you swap in Vlasic instead of Jones

          Not at all. Look again.

Besides, this trade is terrible value. Koskinen is an above average 1B goalie, and even if they wanted to dump him they could buy him out for just $1.5M x 2. That's not worth a 1st that could turn into their first franchise goalie since Grant Fuhr.

Turris can be buried for a 1 year cap penalty of $500k.

Me, not even then. A Neal buyout costs just $1.9M x 4, trading the pick is saving just that amount. What can you buy with $1.9M x 4? a 4C? That's not worth the #19 pick in this years draft to me, not even close.

That’s fair. That would be the only way I would use that pick if I’m dumping a contract.

To be fair, they are getting a young forward and a 2nd back.
So the cost of moving those two contracts is about a 3rd.

Yes, but Nick Merkley has never been more than a 4c in the NHL, and he’s getting up there in age. No thanks, we have plenty of 4c, and they are easy to get.

Yeah i think the only way the oilers take that is if we take neal. Also we may have to pay a late pick for them to take mango, maybe not tho.

I don't think Devils would need to pay any team to take a player.
We are miles from cap ceiling.

Absolutely not for SJ. As much as Koskinen is better and has shorter term than Jones, there’s no way we trade that first to get rid of him. We would much rather just buy him out.
