I know that you and some other Vancouver fans would say "no". Remember, though, Benning wants to be "aggressive". Beauvillier may be a trade target that fans would actually get excited for.

I’m not sure the Seattle deal works but picturing Beau in Van City could be very lethal IMO

It's not for the 9th overall. It's for the 2022 1st, when Benning thinks that they'll be back in the playoffs.

Sorry I read it wrong . I still don't think they have him on the radar for trades.

Not trading Beau unless it's for a major upgrade, and even then it's better to just keep him.

I don't think that many teams or Isles fans have Beauvillier as potentially on the market. Knowing how the Lou/Trotz Islanders work, however, they prefer depth over a top-heavy roster and will IMO focus on holding their 1-2-3-4 centers by extending Cizikas.

this is an awful take. Beauvillier has been the isles best forward in the playoffs and he led all forwards in ice time last night. He's pretty much untouchable. The narrative that the isles would keep Casey Cizikas over beauvillier is one of the most ignorant takes ive ever seen lol

It's not ignorance, necessarily. It's hard to tell about what some regimes do with a hard salary cap. I just wonder if the Isles deal Beauvillier in a similar way that they dealt Toews in order to maintain the quality of the remaining 22 men and to limit the amount of Ladd-style cap dump trades.

Trotz spoke highly of beau a few days ago and how he's one of the isles best playoff performers, never had a bad game over the last 3 years. Defintely a guy you the isles are look ingto move for scraps right @hockeyluv21

No, I don't mean it that way. I'm talking about how the Isles generally have pursued a deep roster build during the Lou/Trotz era. Also, what Vancouver would give isn't "scraps".

Toews was moved because Trotz has an affinity for Nick Leddy. Plus they overreacted to toews playoff performance (toews was by far their worst defenseman in the bubble). It was a stupid trade nonetheless, but they are not trading their best playoff performer over the last 3 years to keep Casey Cizikas. Lou/trotz are not that dumb.

Leddy has had a nice resurgent season, however, so Trotz wasn't necessarily wrong about him.

Beauvillier is just as important to the isles as Barzal - his ice time reflects that and he is used in all situations.

Last year, Leddy was replacement-level. Not this year. He had 31 points in 56 games this season, and more than half of it was even-strength. It was his best statistical year in a while, actually.

im pretty sure the last time I checked on evolving hockey he was pretty close to replacement level. Doesn't drive play at both ends of the ice. Rasmus ristolainen puts up points and he's a below replacement level defenseman

The expected goals model tends to view the Leddy-Mayfield pairing reasonably favorably compared to the rest of the league. Not Pulock or Pelech-level good, but 52% is not bad for a 2nd pair by any stretch. The offense and actual points that Leddy provides certainly helps his case.

I like how you picked a small sample size compared to an overall picture of the season. Stuff with small samples tend to greatly fluctuate, especially because it included a stretch late in the regular season vs. Boston, where Boston's second line was absolutely raking.

It's a 27 game sample size. Pretty much half the season.

Which would be slightly more than a quarter of a normal season. Yeah, I think that my point still applies.

the season was 56 games. You said he had a resurgent season but half the season he was mostly bad and considering he has been a negative WAR player in 18-19 + 19-20 (along with the worst xgf% rel) it's not surprising that leddy came down to earth again.
