I pretty sure 4 years would put Svech in UFA status, and that's a no go from me. Bridge or long term, not in the middle

Svech deal can't be 4 years, has to be bridge deal or long-term deal to lock him up. Also, not sure how this makes them better. They get younger and create cap space but it's not really used to improve.

I wouldn't bother signing Pacquette and probably not Hakanpaa either. Would rather just use all of that cap space to go out and get new D if we do lose Hamilton to FA. Also need to add some top/middle 6 scoring with that cap space, especially at C since we're losing Staal and not doing anything with that money.

Staal should never be used as bad contract bait. We have no reason to give him up as he is really the only bonafide leader on this team other than Slavin.
