When 5 players take almost one half of the cap space, the team is in trouble. Better find a buyer for Kessell. As for your three trades....no way. Why do so many Pens fans think Erixon is an asset. He was picked up on waivers last year (though I wish him well). Perron for Neal...everyone will take Neal. Why would a rebuilding and cheap NJ take Scuderi? No one would likely take the declining Kunitz and Dupuis without giving salary back.

The pens wouldn't have traded for Kessel if they didn't think they could make the cap work for the future. Erixon is the least important piece in that trade and he is the one you choose to focus on. Try looking at the rest of it. There is more to the trade then just Perron for Neal. Read it before responding. Shero will take Scuderi because he was the jackass that signed him to the pens, so he obviously likes him, so he will take him. There r several teams that will take Dupuis and Kunitz. Teams that r looking for experienced veterans or teams looking to reach cap floor.

You already had Matta signed to entry level, why would you give him $4 mill? The Nashville deal makes no sense for either team. Jersey would take Suderi, they're desperate for dmen and have huge cap space. Arizona needs to get to cap floor, could probably dump salary on them.

Guess the Jackets better find a buyer for Saad then. And the Stars better find a buyer for Sharp. Because that makes as much sense as the Pens trading off Kessel now.

Isn't Arizona already at he cap floor? If players on EL contracts get bonuses, they will be well above it. By the time teams sign their RFAs, I don't think anyone will be below the cap floor. The Pens have 5 players eating half their cap, which does not bode well for the future. I see you didn't like Shero as a GM. How do you like Rutherford and his brilliant track record?

Cap hit for the Hawks top 5 players last year - 38.5 million
Cap hit for the Pens top 5 players this year - 38 million

But yeah, it was a total disaster for the Hawks last year, right?
