Sign Schultz and RFAs Galchenyuk walks
Schultz isn't worth the $5.5 he's making now, He'll ask for $7 plus. They'll let him walk. Marino is who they want to take his place. They also have Addison and Joseph waiting. Plus the money you save you can go FA shopping.
I like the Johnson deal, but truthfully, I don't think you'd even need to throw in Hallander.

Letang is 32, and I doubt he has 4-5 years of dominance. Dumolin is 29, They won't resign Schultz anyway. Petterson still needs to prove himself consistently and they have not anything else. Pens desperately need help on the blue line. That being said, it isn't a bad idea to at least try for Hall.
Legare, Addison, a first rounder and Rust might get him. If not, add Jarry and Poulin. I have a feeling another team would still outbid them though.

Not gonna happen
Let me see if I understand this. You're supposing since Calgary doesn't have cap space for Tkachuk, they're not going to be able to make any, so the Pens, who also don't have the space, will take him off their hands. To do so the Pens need to shed a lot of salary, mostly giving it to the Flames, who don't have space, which is how this whole thing begin. You're also hoping you can bribe them into taking Johnson off your hands.
Tkachuk is 21, and very talented. His career trajectory looks fantastic. I just think Calgary will do everything possible to resign him.

Hornqvist isn't worth $5 million a year. Perception of him is higher than his actual value. Now is the time to move him. You trade him before the rest of the league realizes his production is trending down.

Change the Dynamic
Adding a player like Turris is a good move for the third line, but he's 29. He'll be about in his mid thirties when the contract is done. I just wonder if he's worth it. It may be moot anyway, the defense is laughably bad.

Still no third line. Still a terrible defense. Edmonton will need to figure out how to dump Lucic before they could agree to that.

the idea of a shutdown line
Having Cullen on the third line weakens it greatly. I know everyone has a boner for Hornqvist, but he's not playing the 1st line. it'll be Sid and the kids. Sheehan with any combination of Hayes, Grant, Aston-Reese, or Simon, I'd rather see than Cullen.

Taveras said he wants $10 mil a year, but for a cup team, he'd take $8 mil.
Domi is overrated. #'s trending downward. He isn't worth a first. He's a third liner on a garbage team. If Arizona wants to move him, they'll be lucky to take whatever you offer. No GM makes this deal

Clearing Sheary-Hunwick
Trade a guy that averages 16 goals a year, for a guy that averages 12? Plus you're going to throw in a dynamic rookie and a second round pick? Domi hasn't accomplished anything to warrant this. He's a third liner , at best.

My Analysis on Riley Sheahan and the Penguin's Third Line Center Hunt

Carter Rowney is easily the worst player in the league. I’d take Cullen over Rowney every day.
I think it’s more of Cullen’s heart not in it with MIN. He just won two cups with PIT and his wife forced him to play for a different team.[/quo
You are thinking with our heart. This isn't Cullen from 2 years ago. He was gassed last year. Check out his numbers. They're all in the toilet. You may think he's a neat guy, and fills your heart with warm tingly feelings, but this is a business. To win, you need to move on from this nonsense and find better options. I do agree , Rowney is not one of those options, even though I never mentioned him as one.</div></div>

Adding Brassard and Domi , threepeat
The Ottawa deal I would do in a heartbeat. I don't think the Senators would though. The Montreal deal is unnecessary. Sheahan is a fine 4th line center, no reason to move him. The Pheonix deal you could get Domi for Hagelin, no reason to add the rest. Move Hagelin to clear space is and get an ok player in return.

My Analysis on Riley Sheahan and the Penguin's Third Line Center Hunt
Matt Cullen may be one of the worst players in the league. He looks every bit of 41 years old. Minnesota would love to get rid of him. No one in their right minds wants him. Penguins fans are thinking with their hearts instead of their heads. Don't waste your time. their are other, better options. Think outside the box. JR may move somebody for a low pick just to clear cap space.

Nuge is the Answer
I'd give Dumoulin around $3. His numbers don't justify more.
Nugent-Hopkins has scored 50 points, and barely 20 goals a season in his career. Hornqvist has 50 points and over 20 for his career. I know people assume Nugent-Hopkins has a huge upside, but don't give away too much on the hope he'll reach it.
Edmonton has $17 under the cap. Assuming they give Leon $7, they'll have plenty of space for this. They need a Right winger and the Pens have tons. I like it.
BTW you have Sheary, Rust and Hunwick playing out of position. Shaery struggled last year when the team did it. Not a good idea to move players out of their natural positions.

crazy
The assesments I've seen had Dumoulin at $2.5 and sheary at $4. I think it's a bit hight for Sheary so I dropped it to $3.5. Calgary's defense is all right. We need a right and can afford to lose a left d. Besides,Hamilton is much better than Maata. Bigger, stronger, faster. A better skater, better shot, just all around better. I don't think Calgary makes this deal in reality. No one in thier right minds gives up Hamilton for Maata, but I can dream.

You already had Matta signed to entry level, why would you give him $4 mill? The Nashville deal makes no sense for either team. Jersey would take Suderi, they're desperate for dmen and have huge cap space. Arizona needs to get to cap floor, could probably dump salary on them.
