Moves are a tad unrealistic, but this is better built for the playoffs

Detroit easily declines. Unless you're willing to sell CRAZY low on Marner, it is counterproductive for Detroit to trade for him.

Also, you're not getting assets for Dermott or Engvall. You will have to pay to get rid of them, they are cap dumps through and through.

LMAO ur clueless. Just because leafs fans trade them in every armchair gm doesn't mean they are cap dumbs. 1.25M for Engvall with one year left is not a cap dump. And Dermott is an RFA so how can that be a cap dumb.

Nah thats pretty good for Detroit. Namestnikov is nothing/Seattle's pick, a 5th is nothing, and the worst 2nd round pick of the three we have is fine. You are also hoping Bertuzzi is 100% after his injury/surgery which he may not be. To top it off the 6th pick in a weaker draft, while still retaining a 1st, 2 2nds, 2 3rds in the draft, think its a no brainer to get an elite talent like Marner.

Unless you are banking on us winning one of the next two lotteries, I'd take the deal as a wings fan

I've watched plenty of Leafs games. They're cap dumps and you're delusional if you think otherwise. If you feel better about the phrasing, we can just call them what they really are, literal dumps.

6OA AND Bertuzzi to take an 11m a year player, yea, no thanks, keep him.

Please explain how it's counter productive ? I guess the Wings have so many high flying talents in their closet . It's a good deal Larkin could use a good set up man and the Leafs would be gambling on Bertuzzi being healthy

Detroit is a rebuilding team. They're not going to trade away a bunch of their picks. Not even if Mitch's surname was Gretsky would it make any sense.

It's counterproductive because Detroit is a rebuilding team.
No team in a rebuild trades away 2 players and 3 picks to get 1 player back!

Rebuilding teams do the exact opposite of that!

Delusional the chances of drafting a top tier talent like Marner not withstanding the !st rounder are slim to non so you may want to rethink your thought process .....or not

So you consider a player coming off of a major injury another that is average at best with a year left on his contract a 5th round and a second round pick HUGE assets ? The only big asset is the !st rounder are you that ****ing stupid ? Or maybe you don't have a clue how hard it is to draft and get players that can play all the best bye bye

Yeah dude this is where you went wrong. Don't call people delusional if you expect them to be reasonable with you. Listen to what he's saying because it makes sense. We are not in a position to be trading away multiple assets for a guy who won't move the bar enough to make a real difference. All Marner would do would be to make the Red Wings just good enough to never be done with the rebuild. This is the Arizona twilight zone move we're trying to avoid. Also don't trade for a player and then proceed to cut him down; it undermines your opinion. Oh and finally I find it a little ironic that a fan of a team that greatly benefitted from the draft lottery is telling us not to count on it.
I'd give Hronek and the Washington 1st for Marner but that's it. His contract makes him worth way less than he normally would be worth.

Detroit drafted Lucas Raymond last year, who projects to be a similar player to Marner in terms of skill and playstyle. And he makes roughly 10% of Marner's salary and has several years of team control.
