Baby Steps

Created by: Aussie_Blackhawk
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 14, 2021
Published: Jun. 14, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hinostroza gets picked up on better money elsewhere for this example.

Hand the Keys to Kirby.

Instead of the regular UFA signings of Saad etc, traded for Tuch who is younger, Good Cap and Term, Big Body and skates well whilst giving VGK Centre Depth a LD Prospect ready for NHL time and their 3rd back for 2022. It gives them the opportunity to gain these assets and then go and sign a Saad of their own.

Defence hasn't improved much but Baby steps required and further development on our D is needed.

Draft Day: (if both available)
11OA take Lysell
17OA take Lambos

Gives us capacity for next year to go after an UFA in the D.

Why give up on Suter and Beaudin already?

If the Jets are spending draft capital, it should be on defense and not on forwards. Absent any good deals, they would likely take Lambos at 17OA if available.

Cool. I knew he played for the Ice but I didn't know he was actually from Winnipeg.

While both prospects look promising, that’s a backwards move for Vegas. Moving Tuch just isn’t going to happen. I said it all last year, and I’ll keep saying it. He’s our only forward under 30 worth a damn. Krebs could be really nice but he hasn’t scored a goal yet. Tuch is locked up until we have tons of room to pay him FIVE years from now. It just doesn’t make any sense to a team that’s competing to trade away their young studs

The trade was based on selling Suter while value is high for Tuch who is a big body forward who can play top 6 now and sign RNH to play the centre role.

Yeah, his cap is great for his production. A real asset and the main reason for this ACGM. It would be tough to give up Tuch but the ideology behind this scenario was for you guys to sign a guy like Saad to replace him whilst receiving 2 good prospects with NHL experience, Suter was actually on track for 40 points in a regular season in his rookie year.

Winnipeg isn't giving up a 1st for a couple forwards they don't really need, especially when one will be an RFA looking for a large raise that they don't have the cap space for.
