Cup or Bust

Created by: Evakmky123
Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2021
Published: Jun. 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Extra Info, no need to read
Some of these trades try to add known clutch players such as Bailey and perhaps one of the most clutch of all time, TJ Oshie. Bailey and Oshie always score big goals when it counts. Also, you can see the Defense is unchanged except for Klefbom and Larson, my reason, I think they have solid, young defencemen but terrible and untimely goaltending so I instead invest in a goalie. Krejci is also clutch and is a great playmaker. This teems skill and speed would be awesome. The Tyler Johnson and a first-round pick for cap dump seemed crazy since he has a cheap buyout...But it seems as if they are ignoring the option. If the Oilers were smart, they would mortgage their picks because wasting possibly the 2 best players in the world shouldn't be a thought

As for the Salary Cap, I've heard it might rise as far as to 88 million next year

The goal is to make this team a Cup contender (and win one with the next 4 years) for the next couple of years and possibly a few years after

Why would the isles make this trade? They take on more cap to get a way less effective player for Lagesson?? I don’t understand in the slightest how this makes sense.

I think you must have misread whatever report you saw about the cap.

Friedman reported that NHL execs are very confidently planning for five years of a flat cap.

Oh this is for next year? The NHL has already announced 81.5 for next season. You misread whatever you saw.

I’m guessing he saw an article from like february 2020. Before that little thing called covid they were projecting 84-88

I would love Holloway + Lavoie, but there is a 0% chance NSH trades Saros.

The flames very very very very easily decline. That trade is pure garbage. That’s not even remotely close to getting gaudreau

Askarov will not play in the NHL until his KHL contract expires (and I could see Poile wanting him to get some time in the AHL as well) and Rinne could retire. So NSH would potentially have to sign a new starter and new backup for next year? Highly unlikely scenario.

Saros was NSH's MVP last season as well -- no reason to trade him. Askarov won't begin to truly contend for the starter's net in NSH for at least 2-3 years most likely. Saros will be the guy in NSH until that time. They can consider trading Saros then, not now.

And there is zero chance NSH takes on Turris, even as a cap dump, one season after buying him out.
