That Toronto trade for the Hawks is absolutely brutal....no way would the Hawks even consider that for a minute.

Especially since Rielly is a rental.

Wings pass, the draft is too deep for us to trade that pick before we know where it lands

Agreed, I would rather keep the picks than have strome, he hasn't done much unless he plays with Kane.

Usually when a draft is referred to as "deep" or "shallow" that generally refers to the top 10-15 players. A "deep" draft is not likely to affect the second round.

    This time it does.

There are loads of really interesting players that will be available in the second, and even third, round.

Then why is anyone at all trading 2022 picks? Sure there are going to be interesting players available in the 2nd and third round, but its going to be marginally better at best than in whats considered a normal draft class. The real deviation in value comes in the top 15 and thats been proven in and out over the last decade

The strange scouting circumstances this year will mean that there are loads of players that will fall through the cracks and can be had a lot lower than in a normal year. Travel has been suspended all over the world and scouts haven't been able to travel to see the players and lots of leagues have played in empty arenas.

Scouting has have had to be done by video and hearsay. The difference compared with a normal year is huge.

Yeah for 2021, sure, but 2022 is expected to be back to normal, if not full capacity in arenas, at least scouting wise it will be.
