No thanks. The only Boston player I would like to get that’s fills a need, and wouldn’t cost a arm and a leg to get is Jake DeBrusk.

I am not going to say no to that...
...but would ideally prefer some different pieces (like a d-man)

We don't want jones given that good defensemen we want already
Ritchie is not worth a 3rd and 4th round pick
I don't even get the john moore trade.

We'd want better for Jones, and I don't see much point in Boston going for him anyways given y'all already have McAvoy. I'd expect Boston to show brief interest, get rapidly outbid, and move on.

Seattle declines Moore trade. Boston declines the rest.

That’s double the best offer you’ll get for one year of Seth jones.

That offer for jones is utterly absurd.

The idea is that we expect to be doing business with teams that expect to be able to extend him long-term. If you think of him as a rental and price your offer accordingly, you're going to get outbid.

He’s a rental. They’ll get rental prices. If the team extends him, that’s their business.

You don't get to double-dip like that. If you're not willing to put up "future long-term core" prices, you're going to get shoved out of the way by folks who are so willing. Kekalainen is no fool.

Care to give any examples of a guy of jones caliber that was traded in the last year of his contract for “future long-term core,” prices?

I agree with you in one sense. Guys like that get draft picks and prospects that could turn into core pieces. They don’t get a teams young number 2 d man.

Ah. i got my wires crossed. I forgot this was a proposal with Carlo in it. That still doesn't necessarily work for the Jackets, mostly because of Carlo's injury worries and the fact that it's an attempt to split the difference between futures and roster players. We kind of need to really commit to one or the other, and the "futures" path seems the more likely.

Agree with that completely. Picks, prospects, not carlo.

That offer for Jones is quite frankly one of the worst trades I've ever seen. Carlo alone is WAAAY better than Jones.
Devils accept that offer
