Dont Fight Get Wright

Team: 2021-22 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 15, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
STL deal: Blues add yet another big, heavy-hitting, top 4 defenceman.Dunn seems like a shoe-in to get traded before the expansion draft as he is the obvious pick and Risto at 1-year x $4m is unlikely to get taken over Sanford or even a UFA in Hoffman or Schwartz (depending on protections). If Risto does get selected, the Blues acquire Lawrence Pilut for their troubles, who is done with the Sabres but not the NHL and could make their roster for cheap in just a year's time.

MIN deal: As with any superstar deal, a first round pick and top prospect must be included. Marco Rossi fits the bill perfectly, especially reuniting him with his Ottawa 67's linemate and dynamic duo partner Jack Quinn. Eichel is still young with term so a 2nd and Ivan Lodnia (who I'm personally higher on than most) have been added. Eichel's current health is also a minor concern for any team acquiring him. Victor Rask is added to help Minnesota with the cap to sign their RFAs this summer and to help guide Buffalo's young centre core. Borgen and LLC are low-tier additions to help balance things slightly and give the Wild a better chance to hit with their not-so-good defensive prospect pool.

The Seattle Kraken select Colin Miller in the expansion draft.

ANA deal: Anaheim trade up to #1 to select Owen Power and Buffalo trade down to #3 to select Brandt Clarke. As compensation, the Sabres get a very likely early 2nd rounder in 2022, Josh Mahura and Alex Volkov. Volkov projects to be a middle-6 forward and Mahura shows promise on both ends of the puck. Bjork is a bottom-6 forward that can fill the hole that Volkov leaves for the Ducks.

Not only is the Jack Eichel trade a little light, Buffalo does not need to add anything other than Jack to it. I would be interested in flipping picks with the Ducks if they paid us to do it. Adams is not giving away Björk when we targeted him in the trade with Boston.

That's an awful lot of dough to shell out for Vince Dunn. He's a nice LHD with some offensive skill, but you could likely get him for half that cost.

That's a really very well conceived #1 - #3 swap. Congratulations!

As a Wild fan, we would have to accept this in a heartbeat. I believe Rossi will be a stud so we are giving up a huge asset. Yes I know he had covid and got hit hard but this kid has a work ethic that rivals the greats like Crosby and McDavid. Not saying he will be on the level but working to be the best is not something you have to worry about with this guy. I'm really enjoying having a center that we have high hopes for. Something we haven't had in Minnesota. But he has to be traded in this deal to get Eichel. I'm very curious, as Buffalo fans, are you guys wanting to trade Eichel at this point or would you rather build around him? It seems like he has to go, but to loose a talent like that you don't go around wishing for. Would you rather trade a first overall pick to get assets to build around Eichel and Reinhart or trade the two of them and turn the page?
