If Our old guys keep it up (Price, Petry, Weber), and that Caufield and Suzuki continue producing like they do, we won’t be bad .

Adding Romanov, Kk, and Poehling, we have a nice core comming , comparing to the Bruins . @CMcAvoy73

If the divisions go back to normal, the habs are unlikely to make playoffs.

Who is we? Who is you? Neither of us are on NHL teams.

The bruins, lightning, leafs, and panthers are clearly ahead of Montreal when it comes to sustaining success over the course of a season. Montreal got hot, its not sustainable with that group.

I would love to know if you think the bruins have a sustainable group? They have had a lot of success but it’s going in the wrong direction. Team is not getting better the way it is that’s for sure

You could be right with the first 3 ones, even if injuries could prevent them to acheive their potential, but the Panthers have nothing on Habs.

You think the habs are better than boston, tampa, toronto, and florida? Spoiler, they’re not. They just put together their first four game winning streak in two years. They’ve played exactly two hockey games against good teams this season. It’s miraculous they’re 1-1.

They have a lot on the habs. Mostly just that they are a much better hockey team. You’re allowing a very small sample size to dictate your opinion over a large sample size. That’s silly. The habs were one stupid galchenyuk turnover from bowing out in 5 to a bad toronto team. They barely snuck into the playoffs in arguably the worst division the NHL has seen this century. Florida is really freaking good. And they put up that impressive record playing against actual good nhl teams.

I think they probably have one more year left, then they’ll need to retool. Their best player is 23, pastrnak is 24, so theres some reason for hope. That said, Bergeron will have to be replaced, and that’s a really hard thing to do.

He is irreplaceable. Just saw the NHLPA polls and they had him as the number 2 ranked all around player. Obviously the 2015 draft was tough but ya a retool will be needed soon. IMO rask should be out unless he wants a real team friendly deal. I get loyalty but at a certain point it’s a business and spending $7M on him would not be good

Your opinion is stupid. He’s the best goaltender in franchise history.
As long as they have mcavoy they’ll be fine, but they’ll need to find something at center for the long term.

Lol my opinion is stupid? Being the best goaltender in franchise history means absolutely nothing. Rangers should go resign hank next year for $10M cause he’s the best goalie in their history. Maybe your opinion is stupid bud. Also Mccavoy = overrated.

Pretty tough to say that after the last three seasons he just turned in. Rask is 34. Hank is 39.

Such empty arguments, but here's a participation trophy for you.

You should be trilled, since you think regular season games are more meaningfull than playoffs....

Do you actually think the habs are an elite NHL team, or do you think they caught lightning in a bottle against low level NHL teams for a couple weeks?

I think they have the best goalie on earth right now, a physical and disciplined top 4, an elite shut down first line, deep secondary scoring and leadership ready to sacrifice everything for the win. And injuries, so many injuries.

Don't hate the player, hate the game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Then why weren’t they good this year? Why were they 18th in points percentage despite playing in the weakest division the cap era has seen?

You got one thing right, Carey price is playing great right now. Do you think he’s the guy he’s been the last four years, or the last four weeks? I’ll take the bigger sample size.

Regular. Season. Doesn't. Count.

This is why Colorado isn't around the pool with the cup right now.

This is why St-Louis (2018) and LA (2012) have rings despite entering playoffs by the back door.

Ya, but they entered the playoffs in years where they played teams outside their division. They played good hockey teams. Montreal hadn’t played a good team until the other day.

Regular season does count. Our conversation isn’t about, “does montreal deserve to be here right now,” it’s about whether they’ll be back. By your logic, the year tampa got swept by columbus, they were cooked. They stunk in the playoffs. Regular season doesn’t count right? Should have blown up the team. Or, very good teams have peaks and valleys just like bad teams do, and because regular season does count in determining how good a team is, they bounced back and won a cup. Just like their short stretch of bad games didn’t define them long term, montreal getting hot and beating a couple butter soft, cupcake matchups doesn’t define them long term either. Without major alteration to the roster, they’re underdogs to make the playoffs under normal division alignment, and i don’t really see an argument to the contrary. They wouldn’t have made the playoffs if things were normal this year.
