JVR and I think Hamilton ends up there. I think Morgan Reilly will be a Kraken member this season or next. Who are the key players they can claim?

The habs probably protect Chiarot and expose Weber. Seattle would be crazy to take on that contract.

JVR, Kerfoot, Graves and Chariot provide value. Could selected no problem.

Fleury doesn't have the games required to be exposed according to this site, so Petry, Chiarot and Edmonston protected and Seattle probably takes one of Drouin, Allen or Byron who is proving his worth!

You are all crazy, NO WAY IN HELL does Montreal leave Weber exposed! That would be ludicrous, by that thinking Tampa should expose Headman. You don't expose one of your top 3 D just cause he is getting older, especially if you want to compete for another cup next season! Weber and Petry are getting protected and I would bet dollars to doughnuts the 3rd guy is Edmundson or Montreal makes a deal with Seattle to take someone of their choosing to keep all 4 big guys and Allen.

Out of the group you listed Graves and Vanecek seem to be solid, never say guaranteed, picks.

I think Seattle uses their ufa window more than Vegas did. Driedger, maybe RNH, Mike Reilly, Teams with no players that stick out to select...

Good point. Though I would probably protect Chiarot over Edmonson.

Fleury is expansion draft eligible. There is 0 chance he’s protected. Honestly, there’s a larger chance he gets placed on waivers in the fall than there is that he gets protected by the habs. Montréal’s top 4 D have been great in the playoffs, and Fleury is a prospect with a ceiling of a 3rd pairing defensive defenseman.

And no Drouin is not getting exposed, and Seattle won’t pick Byron (who is good, but overpaid) when they have Allen on a steal of a contract available.

If the habs think that there’s a chance that Seattle takes Weber of course they don’t expose him. But Weber is no Hedman, he’s a good top 4 D on a big contract, not the best defenseman on the planet.

Edmundson has been Montréal’s 2nd best defenseman this year. He’s absolutely getting protected.

Wasn't trying to compare Weber to Headman just saying that in terms of value to their teams. Weber may not be as good as Headman but he is still a top 4 D man on just about any team therefore Seattle would take him in a second even if it was just to flip him to another team.

If you’re comparing value to the team, that’s Jeff Petry not Weber that you’d be comparing Hedman to. I don’t think any team would give up assets to acquire Weber and his full contract. Although I agree, the habs only expose Weber if Seattle doesn’t want him, because Montréal obviously want to keep him.
