Over-Active offseason

Created by: PLDGEY
Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 18, 2021
Published: Jun. 18, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Going back to a division with TB, BOS, MTL, TO and FLA; OTT knows theyre not going to be making the playoffs. Embraces one more year of pain.

Available at the deadline for rent with retention if needed:

Hickey/Komarov/JBrown/Koskinen/Dadanov

------------

Curious about the reception of this by Philly in particular. Ive seen your ACGMs paying Seattle to take Vora, and ive seen people very happy to move on from Patrick. If youre not liking this with Vora, would JVR be more appropriate? How would that change the picks here?

OTT fans, chill about the EDM trade. Im high on Lavoie, I think capitalizing on Browns high value now and his history with McD is a good idea. I also like PoolParty, but I think EDM fans would just complain if I included him.

I would love to have Connor Brown if he was a left shot winger. We have Puljujarvi, Yamamoto, Kassian, Archibald on the right. He’s a very good player, and if he was a left shot winger, he would look very nice with McDavid and Puljujarvi!

I wouldnt touch that Islanders cap dump if we're giving anything back to them.

Tampa's cap dump was a 2nd for 3.35m in salary. Theres no reason we can't follow the same template if we're in he same flat cap.

If the 2nd is for Komarov then I'd want more than Bellows to take on the 2.5 of Hickeys contract. Definitely shouldnt be sending anything back considering Komarov and Hickey probably dont see the ice any more than Paquette and Coburn did.

Same thing with the Oilers trade. If Brown is netting you the 1st, is Lavoie worth taking on a 4.5m cap dump? A little rich for me

For NYI, I was going for realistic as compared to ideal. Dorion loves throwing in late picks.

I would also say that Komarov and Hickey both have a chance of being successfully moved at the deadline (especially with retention, Komarov for 1.5M, plays all positions will definitely sell)

As for EDM, you could ask for an additional mid pick that would be fair. I like the idea of adding some prospects who are a couple years away. OTT is going to want ELC impact players in a couple years.

Isles are going to have to pony up more , include Bolduc . They are in a really tight spot cap wise and other GM's know this. Bellows has kinda gone backwards development wise.
I like the Philly deal, would see Voracek playing right side on a line with Stutzle.
I would not touch the Edm trade , good offer but I have grown to really appreciate what Brown brings to the team.

all in all pretty creative

I would pay money out of my own pocket to get Dorion to stop throwing picks into deals that don't need them lol.

The point about moving Hickey and Komarov back out is fair but I'm not sure if it should lessen the return at all, Paquette and Coburn were able to be moved as well (for peanuts but still). Hickey might just be stuck in the pressbox the rest of his career but I agree Komarov could be useful to someone. The trade might actually be closer to ideal for NY and realistic for Ottawa. I'd want to get more but I'm sure Islanders fans would want to give less. Probably a sign that the trade is relatively even but we might just see them stuck in a cap crunch like TB so maybe they get squeezed for more

I like Lavoie, the 1st would be nice. 18th could be Cossa if Ottawa sees the need. But the more I look at it I'd want that extra pick. All depends on how Edmonton sees Lavoie I guess.

That Philly trade is very interesting. Not sure if the Flyers say yes but the logic is solid
