I know this isn't very fun, but I was going for a REALISTIC offseason.
I will post a more fun, less realistic GM later today.

I sense a little softness in the center there. Does that suggest that Kent Johnson or Mason McTavish might be on Stevie's draft list? I've seen some theoretically knowledgeable pundits predicting that Yzerman may go for Jesper Wallstedt, which seems counter to his historical approach.

I hope not. If Stevie is going to select a Tendie in the 1st round, I want him to use the WAS pick and a 2nd to move up for Sebastian Cossa. As for the Center depth, we definitely lack centermen, including Center prospects. I don't see Kent Johnson being a Center at the NHL level, but McTavish may be a very underrated pick for DET at 6th.

Where's all the Leaf superstars we're trading for? Engvall, Mikheyev, Kerfoot, Dermott, Liljegren, Holl? That's what we're receiving for Bertuzzi. CFACGM says so.

Cossa was exactly the guy I was thinking of. I'd bet that he'll still be available at #22.

I'd want a vet like Dekeyser or Staal playing with Seider. Not Nervous Nelly Cholowski.

Me too, but I also don't want Staal OR Cholo on the 1st pair, and Staal may be more of a crutch for Seider than a Support. tears of joy

I sure hope not, WAY too much for Glendening and Bernier and letting Lindstrom go for nothing would be a mistake.

Maybe, Bernier was PHENOMENAL this year and deserves a raise. Glenny played well enough to earn a raise as well. Especially for only 2 years. And I don't see Lindstrom becoming much in the NHL.

Agreed 100% that Bernier deserves a raise, but not almost a 150% raise. Glendening was fine, but he should actually take a pay cut, he's a good heart and soul guy and I love him on the 4th line and PK, but his advanced stats are not good. 1.5m or he can go somewhere else and be overpaid. Lindstrom is a defensive defenseman, through and through. He doesn't put up stats, but he is an eraser. Pair him with an offensive LHD and watch that pair explode.

I don't really know if it's that bold. I've had conversations with a couple of Oilers fans and they seem pretty confident Edmonton will take Cossa at #20. I think It makes sense. Holland has taken a goalie in the 1st round.

The insufferable pedant in me impels me to point out that the 20th slot is actually the 19th selection due to the missing Arizona pick.

Kenny Holland did draft Tom McCollum in the 1st round of the 2008 draft but it was #30. Once we get to the second half of the 1st round it gets very murky. COVID has made this the worst scouted draft in a long time. That is also part of the reason why I think Detroit should give up Washington's 1st for Dunn.

I personally do NOT want Dunn. At all. Stevie has proved to be pretty Elite at drafting talent. I'd rather the pick. That being said. DET does need quite a bit of help on Left D. I could see it happening.

I noticed you had said that in a different ACGM and you are not alone several other Wing's fan here feel the same way and there is a 3rd group of Wing's fans that would ok with Dunn but they'd want something else as well. We have DDK who I like but his last back surgery and sitting out a full year may have too much at 31 and the league just keeps getting faster, can he still be effective in the 1st or 2nd pair? Cholowski has played in 109 games and still hasn't figured it out. Then we have McIsaac since being drafted has missed a big chunk of the last 2 seasons to have each of his shoulders surgically repaired and thats an injury that never heals 100%. So it's not will he need another operation but when will he need another operation.

Honestly, IMO, Dunn just doesn't fit the Wings timeline. Cholo showed quite a bit of growth over the last year. I think he'll be a pretty solid 3rd pairing guy. Put him with Stech and he's got a real shot. McIsaac is a bummer for sure. DDK likely has a mediocre future, but he's a stop-gap until Stevie can figure the left side out. ALL that being said, I still don't see Dunn as the answer to any of those problems. I think this year was his peak performance level, and for a 1st rd pick, especially one that could pick us up a Cossa or a Chayka, it isn't worth it to me. But Stevie knows best. Maybe he does make that trade. I'm not going to be upset if he does. I just personally wouldn't.

Yes for the 5th season in a row the offseason can not get here soon enough for me. With the last 2 seasons being cut short the Wings have only played 127 games instead of 164. Just trying to think positively.

You're right. Cossa won't. But NSH at 19 doesn't take him, and for the #23 and the #48, we could probably move up 3 spots.
I believe it is his second, but I don't think the first was nearly as major. Plus I believe the 2nd was a permanent fix for the 1st. Same issue, 2 surgeries. He won't be good much longer, but he has a year or 2 in him.

The most common way in the US to fix issues with discs is spinal fusion. They go in remove what is left of the disc then with a special glue that fuses the vertebrae above and vertebrae below the bad disc together. Then they stabilize with screws and bars so the vertebrae can't pull apart while they fuse. Then you go back to have the screws and bars are removed. You are right with one fusion movement or motion lost isn't much but the 2nd and the 3rd you will start to notice it. I was able to find the name of the surgeon who did Bertuzzi's surgery. Dr. Frank Cammisa who specializes in disc replacement.

I've had a spinal fusion myself. It's not that bad if it's just one. My father, who's had 3 on the other hand, that's when it gets rough. It also majorly depends on location.

A good friend my family has had 2. The only surgery I've had was to remove my appendix after it ruptured.
