Idk, if Ottawa's retaining salary here there should be more going coming back for Ottawa. Smith had the better season for sure, but I don't think there was that much separating them, and if you think that Dadonov will bounce back (which I do, and you clearly must as well) then Ottawa is definitely giving more than their getting. Think Ottawa can just run it back with Dadonov and be completely fine

The basic premise is fine, but drop all the picks and the retained money. If you need money retained, I’d think the max Ottawa would go is $1.5MM, but $1MM is more likely, and add just one pick going back. Dadonov requires two years of retaining, so it’s not a small aspect of the trade.

If Ottawa retained $1MM, then Vegas gets a $4MM winger for a $5MM winger, and Ottawa pays $5.5MM for one year of Smith, $4.5MM this season and $1MM next season. Leschyshyn projects as a bottom6 centre, probably 4C. Brown has a much higher upside, if he stays healthy, it’s a fair trade off.

If Ottawa's gonna do the swap, they may as well do the retention. They won't need the 2.5mil in the next two years. My problem with the deal, is that that costs something more significant from Vegas.

I don't hate Leschysyn though. Not sure he cracks the NHL, but it'd be cool to see a 2nd Generation Sens legend in Ottawa.

Come on man. Middle6 C, depth picks and non-NHL player?

Selling low on LBrown, selling low on Dadonov and retaining.

This is a bad offer
