We don't need a rd at all and nothing against Johnson but to eat 12 million on a guy we don't need is more than a 2nd round pick.

Detroit already have 4 RD (Hronek, Seider, Stecher, Lindström).

Besides, 2 years at $6 million each on a 33 year old player who only played 4 games this season? For only a 2nd?
That's twice the length and 4 times the $$ of the Staal deal and Staal was actually needed.

Just to piggy back off of this, you'd be better off sending him to Winnipeg, where they need help at RHD. If he can come back and play, he could fill a hole for them and they have the cap space. With that said, I don't think he's waiving to go to anyone, who would want/take him.

Ya I highly doubt Johnson waives especially to go to Detroit with all of their RD and them not being a playoff team.
