Description
Let the D grow organically this year and take a good pick in the 22'draft. This gives the flexibility to add a Free Agent or make a trade next year.

It even allows us to add a Vet goalie if we want this year.

The focus moving forward would be about improving the back end with D and goalie solutions. From 22' that is the main priority as the forward group is deep, could perhaps do with more size but that can come with time. We are rebuilding after all.

This also allows prospects AHL time (Beaudin, Mitchell, Regula, Reichel etc)

This is a guy that had 29 goals in his first 82 nhl games. Hes not expensive and hes under team control. Theres a fair chance we set the record for fewest goals in an 82 game season next year. Why would we move him for that?

Buffalo isn't touching that trade, although it's probably the direction the hawks need to go. I do think they need to trade for an LD to play minutes and give Keith a break.

Yeah thats a valid point, he is probably an asset that you should keep in a rebuild but if they were to move from him, getting PK is not a bad option. Give PK good minutes and he can produce as he shown this year when given top 6 minutes.

I respect your view to keep hold of Olofsson however.

Theres actually a lot of sabres fans who would move olofsson for the change in your couch cushions. Hes got holes in his game- one of our local sports guys described playing against him as being "a vacation". He doesnt score much 5v5 (although he did play better as this year went on), he doesnt play much d or play physical. He good hands and a world class shot. He has scored every place he has played.
