Is this realistic

Description
The sharks, while hell bent on competing, might have to adjust on the fly if the Kane rumors are true. This is an idea on how they could flip current roster players while still making a push for the playoffs. Waiting to buyout Jones for another year would be ideal to lessen the future penalty despite it making sense now. Also unsure of the ufa deals, let me know if you all think they are too low or too high.

All good moves for both sides (aside from Kane being a tough situation).

    I think:

SJS shouldn’t trade Meier at all

Ott needs more tbh (an add) or just picks, no Donato lol

    I don’t wanna lose Simek

And good value for Kane. I’d rather see a better prospect tho or add a pick. Hard to judge tho as we all know.

This is bizarrely similar to an AGM I'm working on right now lol.

I think it's reasonably realistic though. Might need to be some value added here and there, but I like the first two trades for sure. The Kane one is decent, but I'm just not really keen on moving him unless there are more legit reports that he's being toxic or that he really wants out of SJ.

No. Meier has a 10 million QO in 2 years which is ridiculous, meaning he will walk when we don't qualify him

I don't think Carolina wants to pay him 7M until 2025 and I think they like Pnomarev because of his two-way game

Actually that’s incorrect. Qualifying offers are limited to 120% of the previous contract AAV. Which means the qualifying offer can’t exceed $7.2 million.

Incorrect. It's the prior years salary, which is why players are backloading RFA deals, like werensku, mcavoy, meier and tkachuk.

The 120% of aav is only contracts signed in 2020 and after

If that’s true no one is qualifying him at $10 million. A lot of those guys are going to be allowed to hit free agency and then not get the money they thought they were getting anyway. With that being true I wouldn’t consider trading for him. He’s not a long time solution for anything.

Unfortunately it's based on the salary total the final year of the contract, not the cap hit. Since Meier's contract is set up so that get 4M, 4M, 6M, then 10M in that order it means he has to get at least that final number unless he isn't tendered.

Nobody is going to qualify him at that price. Although that would just mean they’re not allowed to re-sign him in free agency. That would probably mean he gets traded that off-season to a team that might give him that contract.

Over pay on Mrazek, underpay for Dreidger and Coleman.

I'd move Cooch before Kane even though we are short on centre talent already. Playoff Cooch is amazing and I can see someone taking him (may need to retain like 1M though)

Unfortunately Kane is the one being tossed out there as wanting to go, apparently. What would you think are better offers for the 3 ufas?

I agree I would rather not move Meier but seemed like a good time to upgrade Center depth. For the Donato/Tierney, I've seen both get traded for 3rd rounders on here so I thought maybe two birds with one stone. Also, I think I would rather lose Simek and his contract but it would be tough to replace him on the defensive end which is why I just threw Merkley on the third pair.

Unless he miraculously becomes Mikko Rantanen 2.0, agreed no ones going to give him that QO. But that doesn’t mean the Sharks or some other team can’t just decline to re-up him as an RFA, then sign him for whatever price as a UFA like Ottawa almost did with Duclair.

You’re right. I got confused for a second, the qualifying offer is not an arbitration deal. If you can take a guy to arbitration and decline the offer he becomes a UFA you’re not allowed to re-sign.

Swap the goalies numbers (dreidger might get bid even higher), Coleman probably makes 4-5M on like a 4/5yr deal
