Description
Skjei > Scandella and is a much better transitional player but costs more, so they pay us to open up ~$2m to sign Dougie. Coleman and Goodrow are brought in as great two-way players to help the penalty kill and block shots. Gaudreau adds a new dynamic to the offense, could really explode offensively playing with a great 2-way C like ROR.

It will likely take a lot more than that to get JG.

You might be able to find a team who is willing to take on Tara's cap for free in hope he bounces back but I wouldn't expect to get any value for him. There isn't a single thing there that is that useful for CGY to move their biggest asset for

Coleman will make a hell of a lot more as well

Cap space isn't the problem for Carolina. We could sign Dougie and Svech while having enough cap to fill out the roster. The problem is determining if Dougie is worth 8.5x8.

With that in mind, I wouldn't pay to downgrade just for cap space.

Canes don’t need to clear cap space, they’re just very staunch in their analytical values which is why they’re letting Dougie explore. If they wanted to move Skjei they could probably do so for a second rounder versus taking on somebody like Scandela and giving more assets.
