NYI needs to clear cap space and Sorokin is more than capable of taking over the starting role. I think Varlamov is a very logical player to get moved out of there. Goalies typically don't get a big return especially if it's a cap move.

I believe they are assuming Neal get bought out which is a 3.8M savings. Neal is the worse player but his buyout is very friendly compared to most.
