Remove the pick from the habs and add a pick from the pens. Assuming Chariot and Petterson are even, Petterson's cap hit is higher for longer with the cap being flat I think they need an insensitive to take the contract

No chance the VGK take that deal.
They're exempt from the expansion draft so they can easily hang onto Fleury and Lehner for next season.
Also, retaining on Fleury (who just won the Vezina) and signing Kasper and DeSmith doesn't even add to their cap space.
It'd be a very bad move for a team in WIN NOW mode.

Gaudreau will get 1.5 at most, but even then he takes less to stay in PIT. That goes with Ceci, Blueger, and ZaR as well

It's a really tough one because BOTH of these teams are in WIN NOW mode. Without Fleury Vegas wouldn't have made it is far as they did this season. Meanwhile Pittsburgh is not giving up anything nearly as valuable to their success. I'm not sure there's a deal to be made where both teams would feel they'd improved. I'd suggest Jarry and Kapanen for Fleury but PIT would really, REALLY, need to believe Fleury could repeat this season to give up that much. Vegas would be adding some offensive talent which is where they fell short in the playoffs and trusting the a Lehner and Jarry tandem works out for them.

I just don't know...

Right.

U have Gaudreau at 875k. He gets 950k-1.25M. Probably 1.1M for 2 seasons. 2.2M total contract.

Blueger gets 1.9M-2.5M. Most likely 2.25M for 3 seasons. A 6.75M total contract.

ZAR will get 1.5M-2M. Probably 1.6M-1.8M for 2 seasons. A 3.5M total contract.

Ceci will walk. Pens can’t afford him for anything over 2M. And he’ll get atleast 2.5M per somewhere else.

Coleman probably gets 4M plus. He’s gonna be one of the FAs that gets paid.

All those 200k-500K differences add up. And make u over the cap with only a 20 man roster.

That’s the point!!

Pettersson is younger and is going to be the better player

He might be younger but again he is getting paid more. Also habs are already stacked on the left side with romanov, struble, harris and Guhle. If petterson can play the right side than maybe there's a deal to be made but if not i don't see it.
