You'd have to take Henrique to make the money work (instead of either Steel or DesLauriers), but otherwise the deal is fine.

I'm under the impression that (1) Reinhart is in the last year of his RFA status, so (2) his arb-awarded contract is limited to one year.

No reason for Ottawa to even consider that trade offer. Batherson is better, younger, and definitely part of Ottawa's core going forward.

As for the offer sheet... IF BRADY SIGNED IT Ottawa would match, because they have no choice. But I doubt Brady signs it. It's not OUTRAGEOUS enough to make him jump from a frying pan to a fire. He likes what Ottawa is building. He knows he's likely going to be the captain and get to play with his lifelong BFF Norris and new BFF Stützle for a long time. I think the offer would need to be $9M or more, which puts the return to OTT as TWO 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd. THAT might make Ottawa hesitant to match... but it would also be NUTS for Buffalo to do.

Malicious offer sheet, any GM that would make that offer sheet would be hard balled on every trade after, by every team. It isn't the dollar amount, it's the term. Ottawa would easily match the dollars, but the term walks Brady Tkachuk to UFA, and is a malicious offer meant to hurt Ottawa and not to steal Brady Tkachuk away.

That Eichel trade is an affront to all things good. Buffalo gets 0 great assets. Buffalo says no to a trade that gives us a grinder we got rid of, an ok young forward, a mediocre young forward and a protected 1st in 2022. That is effectively the ROR trade v2.

A 3rd round pick doesn’t mKe up for Olofsson being 3 years older than Drake.

Brady offer sheet gets matched IF he were to sign it which I imagine he wouldn’t.
