Seattle is going to take a player regardless
so any cap dump of Johnson to seattle involves these pieces
1. Player they were going to take anyway
2. 1st round pick
3. one of tope prospects

Johnson
Foote
1st
Hugo Alnefelt

Killorn and Palat are cap dumps too, you will not get market value for them
Palat = 3rd
Killorn - 3rd

Doug wouldn't ever make that trade, he would resign Palat for 6M/6yr though.

While I agree they won't get a 1. Your idea all that is gotten for either is a 3 is equally low. It's a 2and late pick. Out of the 15 or 20 teams Killorn and Palat respectively have on their lists 6 or so Will be very interested negating most cap issues . Bob Murray, Jarmo Kekalienen, and Steve Yzermann all proved if it benefits their teams they'll deal. GM's certainly aren't worried about the cap finagling if they were more than St. Louis would have voted to enact the salary cap in the playoffs back in 15 when TB proposed it.
Volkov for Morand hardly a fleecing. David Savard was the normal TDL return for a top pair Rh shot defenseman. Yzermann got a decent return for salary cap space. I think the Savard trade was a high price ,but TDL is expensive

nope, no team wants to help tampa win 3 in a row! especially after you essentially cheated the cap this year to win, you’ll have to pay way more to get rid of Johnson. and any other cap dump.

Tatar is getting close to 3 times that on a longer deal. SJ isn’t doing that deal either.
