Ellis and Ekholm? That’s a lot of defense to lose in one offseason… and I’m pretty sure Poile said he’s not trading any defense but we’ll see.

If you are trading Ekholm and Ellis, you might as well trade Forsberg too. No sense in getting established NHLers either, picks and prospects cause it's a rebuild in this scenario.

I don't really see how we upgrade the offense significantly or refresh the pipeline some without trading a dman. We really shouldn't keep latching ourselves to 30+ year old dmen. One of them should go regardless (I would pick Ellis personally) and both should go if we're rebuilding.

Hate to break it to you but DeBrusk has barely been good as even a 3rd or 4th liner and has been scratched recently. He would only fetch a draft pick in a trade right now...

I don’t disagree — I can’t find it now, but I recently saw a Poile quote saying he’s not looking to move any defenseman though, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I honestly think it’s time to go in another direction from the top first. Poile in my opinion should be the first to go and bring his system where our offense runs through our defense first with him. If he was a gm at almost any other franchise he would of wore out his welcome awhile ago. Riding a hot goalie on an average team on our cup run and winning the presidents cup shouldn’t give him a pass on most of these bone head moves. I give it to him for trying but with how many bad moves he has made over the last 4-5 years should of got him fired. We need a new identity and someone who can draft develop and keep a top 6 forward. I’m sorry for being negative but I’m so over poile.

I think you’re right l, but I feel like we’re 1-2 years away from that — for better or worse.
