I think I would do that as the Sabres, doubt the jackets would though.

Moving up 4 spots in this draft wouldn't cost 2 first round picks

To get to 1 it would. In 2013 Colorado turned down 3 1sts from Calgary, including the 6th overall

2021 draft is different from 2013 draft

Power isn't going to be as good as Mackinnon

And those depth picks aren't as good either

With those two late first round picks, the Flames drafted Emile Poirier who played 2 NHL games in his career and Morgan Klimchuk who played 1 NHL game.

The chances that the Blue Jackets pick 2 players that will play a combined total of 4+ NHL games are very high

Cbj should say no. However this is impossible to really judge imo. If there is a guy they absolutely love at 1, and they don't like much past that then it might be worth it but we just don't know.

Usually teams wouldn't move from the # 1 pick...just in case that player turns into the best player in the draft. Plus the Sabres want a little cache in their sale department when that # pick signs with Sabres.
But just based on the talk about the prospects.....I think the Sabres would be better on the ice long term with the trade that was proposed.
