You gotta get to the playoffs before you can disappoint in the playoffs. I think Eichel is elite and I think Marner is elite. However, I think it's unfair to say that Eichel is worth more than Marner + 3 other assets. The difference between the two based on history is that Marner has had better production. The difference in potential slants towards Eichel. Fair?

When the other assets are mediocre at best prospects and a second it is 100% fair to say Eichel gets more, he plays a more valuable position and has comparable offensive numbers on a much, much worse team, with much, much less supporting pieces.

Yes they are both elite, but Eichel is closer to Matthews in value than Marner is closer to Eichel

Abruzzese is our best centre prospect. I wouldn’t say scraps. The package to me seems fair. Buffalo may only be interested in rebuild pieces though.

i dont think he is.. we have Hallander, i wouldnt be surprised if hes on the team this year we also have Abramov whos starting to look like he could be a solid middle six player

TORs best centre prospect doesnt mean hes good, TOR has terrible C prospect depth

Your first claim seems dubious at best. Both are extremely small forwards. SDA has 6 career AHL games and is a pure playmaker. Abruzzese missed the entire season. There’s honestly a better chance that they become the next Braccos than both becoming regulars. They are both guys who are only gonna crack the NHL on a scoring line, and there’s not really a spot for them long term (Robertson-Matthews-Marner Amirov-Tavares-Nylander). Regardless, Buffalo doesn’t consider this. They’ll want a futures package, Marner doesn’t help them more than Eichel would right now, so there’s no point in them trading for him. Especially if the Leafs would try to limit the additions on top of Marner to a collection of expendable, mediocre assets like this.

SDA is playmaker. I think he will be an nhler but definitely has the possibility of being the next Bracco.

Abruzzese is a mid 6 winger/centre at the very worst. The kid has got skill.

No the fact that he is good makes him good. Really good in fact. Have you seen him play?

That's just based on your like for the player and nothing of results.

Marner has proved that he cant win when it counts, so that hurts Marner just as much (I'd argue more than Eichel)

If you dont think Eichel is a franchise centre there's no point in continuing this discussion tears of joy

That is fair, Eichel has proven time and time again that he CAN get it done

I don't think it's about Marner the player but what Adams is looking for in a trade. I think one of the main components is a top 10 pick in this draft for starters plus why on god's green earth would Toronto trade a big contract for another big contract when if they do trade Marner they should be looking for a high draft pick and players that can fill in some holes they have and cost controlled. It's just not feasible to have almost 50% of your cap tied up in 4 players.
