Dunn for Gurianov and more

Created by: BluesBandit
Team: 2021-22 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 7, 2021
Published: Jul. 7, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Get back to being hard to play against. Addition of Danault gives us three centermen who can play great defense. Addition of Gurianov makes the second line thrilling to watch. Martinez would be a dream signing. He’s a great shutdown defender that can cover the gaps Faulk may leave, similar to how Parayko should cover Krug. Kase is a lottery ticket and ideally we’d get him/Kostin to replace the physicality that Blais brought. Kostin is the first player up when we get an injury. Not much to say about Maroon, he just belongs in St. Louis.

Trades
1.
STL
  1. Brook, Josh
Additional Details:
Blues lack RHD prospects and Brook doesn’t need to be protected.
MTL
  1. Blais, Samuel
Additional Details:
Seems awfully likely that Allen will be taken from MTL. Send them Blais who of course is French-Canadian and should flourish with a spot off the 4th line. He’s hard to lose, but this is better than losing him for nothing to Seattle.
2.
STL
MTL
  1. Scandella, Marco
Additional Details:
Blues protect:
ROR, VT, BS, JK, RT, DP, OS
CP, VD, JF
JB

Seattle chooses Scandella over Krug and Barbashev, the only other two appealing choices.
3.
STL
  1. Kase, Ondrej [RFA Rights]
BOS
  1. Sanford, Zachary [RFA Rights]
4.
STL
  1. Maroon, Patrick
Additional Details:
He guarantees us winning the cup next year
5.
STL
  1. Gurianov, Denis
Additional Details:
Blues get a guy to fit in with Thomas and Kyrou as the next wave of our core.
DAL
  1. Dunn, Vince [RFA Rights]
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Dallas gets a talented offensive LHD who could break out with a bigger role. Trading within the division is always awkward, but it could help both teams.

Martinez is going to get a lot more than $3M.

I don't see Dal making that trade either.

I can't see Montreal agreeing to that deal. Brook is one of only 2 RD prospects they have, the only one that's a PMD, and the only 2 RD on the NHL roster are in their mid-30s. I could definitely see the Habs trading for Blais, but it would have to be something like Lehkonen or a forward prospect/pick. If they give up Brook, it would have to be as part of a deal for Dunn and, while I like that deal, the Habs likely will just wait a year for Norlinder to develop.

A small bottom 6 winger is the last thing MTL need right now. A puck moving RHD prospect is what they lack the most after a big LW.

Bad fit, wouldn't happen.
