The Hasek trade was not good, no one is going to argue that. But he did salvage the trade the following season. Kozlov never wanted to be in Buffalo, so they traded him at the draft the following year to Atlanta for a couple second round draft choices. They traded those draft choices to St. Louis for Jochen Hecht. Hecht Played the rest of his career in Buffalo, and was an exceptionally productive player, and during the rise of the team to prominence again he was such an important 2 way player that when he was injured it was completely obvious how much they missed him. Many times I remember saying “oh Hecht isn’t playing, I guess we’re going to lose.“ And usually I was right.
