Jets aren't going to give up on Dubois yet and I doubt Anaheim would part with #3 overall.

    #13. Isac Lundestrom, C, 21 (Timrå IK/Anaheim Ducks)

There’s usually a player on every team’s list who has already worked his way up the ranks to the NHL but slots lower than fans, who are familiar with his game, might expect. Lundestrom is that player for the Ducks and I feel compelled to re-explain that this player evaluation is a game of projection and upside (or it should be). The reality of Lundestrom’s game is (even after a strong start to the year offensively in the second-tier HockeyAllsvenskan) that he’s destined to be a role player at the NHL level at this point. His skill level never really developed beyond its strong, mature foundation, limiting him to a simple what-you-see-is-what-you-get approach. He plays a valuable support role off the puck but he plays quickly when he has it, rarely hanging onto possession to make something happen. I like the way he forechecks. I like his pro size. I think there was more skill to tap into had he taken a different trajectory. But he’s not a natural shooter or playmaker and some of the skill that existed in his game as a teenager has been muted, limiting him as a quiet facilitator who doesn’t threaten as a scorer inside the offensive zone.

Other than the Beaulieu move and I guess the Vegas one (although it is a pointless trade for a player the Jets don't need) all really, really terrible moves for the Jets.

    My thoughts:

Giving away Morrissey makes zero sense. He’s a top 4 D, and when he’s played with NHL caliber partners, he’s a different player than when he’s lined up with AHL/#7 dmen. He is young, driven to succeed, and can play in all 3 zones and all 3 phases of the game.

Dubois won’t be traded for a middle 6 role player as Mr.Canoe points out.

I don’t think Beaulieu, a bottom pair D, would net anything in the off-season, maybe a 7th round pick at the deadline...maybe.

The Vegas trade is interesting. Not sure why Vegas would do that. Niku is a top 2 AHL Dman, not an NHL regular at this point. There are dozens of comparable dmen available. The pick isn’t going to net a middle 6 Center man on a very good contract, and I’m not clear on why the Jets would even want another C, with 55, Dubois, Lowry and Gustafson/vet UFA down the middle.

I doubt that Anaheim would trade down past #6 unless the deal was a real eye-blinker. Nos. 7, 8 and 9 belong to divisional rivals and anything beyond that is too big a drop-off for anyone less than an All-Star to justify.
