Description
Instead of an Offer Sheet that will only get the Canes 2 1st, 1 2nd and 1 3rd, they make a trade including Bean and get a replacement top 6 forward, top 4 defensive prospect and a good 5/6 d man to replace Bean.

*Made an error, the Canes trade would have the 2022 and 2023 1st rounder while the Yotes trade will have the 2021 1st rounder

Have fun with the poor narrative. Difference between being cheap and not valuing a player.

If the Habs front load an offer sheet with signing bonuses, the Canes will legit not be able to accept it. They are still hurt from the Aho one and had to get rid of their starter over 2m in AAV

Any source for this speculation?

They just trade their starter for cents on the dollar because of 2m AAV. They made 115m this season but owe 95m in expenses. Thats 25 million to work with this offseason. Habs can set a very high signing bonus and easily get him or cripple the team financially

Id happily take Chiarot for a 4th round pick.

However the Rangers can and should outbid MTL for Dvorak. My offer would be 1st, Chytil and Georgiev for Dvorak and Crouse.

Go actually listen to what the team is saying and watch what they’ve done and are doing. They didn’t think Ned’s small sample size was deserving of the money they’d have to pay him and didn’t trust that he’s the long term solution as they enter their cup window prime. They’re going to spend to the cap this year and going forward as they’ve done the last couple of years while competing.

But if this tired narrative helps you enjoy your life - go for it bud

Like it or not looks like the sens PROPERLY rebuilt their team in a 4 years span... and I'm even willing to bet my next paycheck that the SENS will be ahead of the HABS in the standing next year

Got it, you’re basing your speculation on the team going a different direction in net. Players also need to sign OS and matching should be an easy decision based on the AAV & term so not really leverage. Seems like you’re grasping at straws and I don’t see why Svech would leave a contender to go to the Habs who most likely doesn’t sniff the playoffs next year.

Possibly a 3 way trade at that point, Habs need a 3C at the moment and getting Chytil wouldnt be bad if the price is right.

Habs: Chytil, Rangers 2021 4th
Yotes: Rangers 2021 1st , Habs 2021 2nd (maybe a1st), Georgiev
Rangers: Dvorak, Crouse, Chiarot

They just traded a calder finalist who only wanted 3.5 m AAV for a 3rd rounder and Bernier whos an UFA. Canes have got to be poor or your gm is actually braindead

I’m a DRW fan and Bernier is actually a solid goalie who posted solid analytics. You know who has a big DA department? Carolina, this somewhat makes sense.

I could see Yotes happy with going from zero 1st round picks to having 2 plus a young goalie.

Canes have 4 d men, 0 goalies and 8 forwards signed on the NHL roster. They have 25m in total to fill out the roster. They did this purely as a monetary "fix"

Seems like they have limited cap space to fill a bunch of roster spots after they sign Svech & potentially Hamilton. Makes sense they’d try to sign a goalie who has what 25 games to his resume to a bargain contract.

n...no. The reason they moved Nedeljkovic was because this management team didn't like him. He was a francis pick. They don't like what he was asking for because he's a .890 goaltender behind an average D core, which we saw when Pesce and Hamilton were hurt. They're betting on him regressing severely.

Are you really sticking to this narrative after they matched Aho's contract that every canadiens fan claimed would send the Hurricanes to bankruptcy. They did this move because they don't believe in Ned and Bernier was a good goalie on the 6th worst team in the league. Do you really think Tom Dundon would buy the full ownership of the Hurricanes if he was having severe financial problems. Reports on pro sports teams finances aren't always the most accurate things

Cap issues are one thing, but there's NO reason to trade a 21 year old winger who has literally done something TWICE only 1 other player has ever done.... Svech won't even be as much as this because he's coming off a rough year (by his standards)

Again with the poor narrative, let’s see how the off-season pans out but I’d put a large sum of money on the canes being right up against the cap yet again. I beg Montreal to offer sheet svech so Carolina can get him locked into a nice under value contract.

So is your argument it’s them being poor or they’re trying to be smart with their cap? Starting to contradict yourself pal. Don’t hurt yourself!

I don’t like the Ned thing as much as the next, but it’s not about $ and certainly isn’t about the Aho offer sheet. The old white man boys club of NHL owners doesn’t let another one in unless they are positive he has a big enough wallet and ego to hang with the rest of the boys. Not sure why Habs fans have this irrational hardon for this stuff.

I’m guessing that the Canes arent going to roll with two league min Goalies. Just because they didn’t spend on Ned, doesn’t mean there won’t be money spent.

Either way, have a splendid day.
