Drugs…and i would love to see this. He’d put up 40 goals his first season with the Leafs, everyone would rejoice…then he’d disappear for the rest of his career.

So Seattle gets a 7th in exchange for 3M in salary on their books for 6 years. I'm sure Francis will love that.

Seattle gets the first, but either way that's a big under payment

I think buffalo would just hold onto him instead of retaining a third of him and getting nothing back.
Not enough payment for Seattle or any team to eat 3M for 6 years. I would expect two or three firsts for something like that.

Clearly no 3rd party team wants any art of this.

Buffalo made the mistake. They are the ones stuck with the contract.

If anything were going to happen it would be buffalo retaining 50%?and moving him for a C prospect or 4th liner.

And that’s the real issue, even at just a single 1st skinner isn’t worth it. That’s why no 3rd team retains. You can’t give that bad of a contract positive value, the retention will always be worth more than the player. It reminds me of the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

Got it. Reading comprehension fail on my part. But yeah, gonna take much more than that to piss away 3M for 6 whole years.
