For the flyers, it's still a bit of dollars on the cap; but Fletcher made it clear he expects more of a 1A and 1A.5 more so than a 1A and 1B. I think Philly can swing for something better; but that's definitely not a bad offer if things don't pan out on the UFA market

I wonder if Mrazek doesn't end your back in Philly, not sure what he's going to get or what the Flyers cap situation is though.

Nor do we want to pay for his cap hit for the next 4 season. Going to have to pay us to take him unfortunately.

Do ya'll not want to get better? Schmidt would be the #2 or at worst #3 dman on Detroit... I guess you already have seven though...

I would rather keep developing Hronek, Seider and Lindstrom, Leddy is better, Staal is just a stop gap. Dekeyser can be good but he's hurt a bit and slowing down alot. It's not so much the player as it is the contract and term. Yes I know we have the cap space but it isn't a charity. It just doesn't make sense to pay for a guy like him when we can fill the void for free, like we did with Staal, Leddy cost us a second but we also dumped half of a contract and should recoup that come deadline time and then some.

I think Detroit should say yes to this.

We have 4 defenders that are on expiring contracts, 3 of them on the left side. We currently have no prospects in Grand Rapids that are ready to step up and replace them if they are traded at the deadline.

With how vulnerable we are to injuries (due to the lack of ready prospects and the age of the veterans) we should go with 8 defenders and 13 forwards next season. Doing so will also make it much easier to trade one or two of the rentals at the deadline.

I also see Schmidt's contract as an advantage as he'll bring some continuity to the left side, instead of having to bring in three new veterans next year or playing only 21-year old prospects.

I just don't think he's worth the money, the term is fine but 6M is alot for him unless he turns it around.

He played really well every year in Vegas. I think his lack of production this year is due to playing in Vancouver more than it's due to his ability sliding.

Detroit really need a stabilizing force on LD so it's either this guy or someone like Matheson or Marcus Pettersson.

Those other two don't make me confident
