Dermott, a prospect and a 1st is not a low-ball offer. I think Red Wings fans like you are overvaluing Bertuzzi. He's not going to put up point per game numbers. He is a top six utility player who adds that physical element. He is not going to get the return that Eichel is going to get.

Mantha wasn't on the market until Yzerman decided to trade him. He's stealthy like that. So Bertuzzi is not untouchable. I think a trade can be beneficial for both teams.
And I have him on the first line not because he's a first line caliber player but because the Leafs are so weak on the left side he would automatically slot in on the top line. On a truly great team like Tampa Bay Bertuzzi is on the third line, playing the role of a Gourde or a Coleman.
Dermott is a 3rd pairing D, Engvall is a fringe NHLer, SDA is a B prospect, and the 1st is going to be late in the draft. Bertuzzi is way more valuable to the Wings than the package you offered.
Also, think of the return Mantha got for Detroit. A good young scoring winger, a late 1st, 2nd, and a mild cap dump. Your offer for Bertuzzi is nowhere close to that mark. Another note, because the Leafs are so weak on the left side, that would make the asking price for Bertuzzi go even higher, because Detroit has something you need, and has little incentive to move him.
