Man the offers all around are a bit crazy for the Eichel - some good, some bad and some ugly - that being said its funny how many people are trying to give quantity over quality and some sabres fans are chirping they want younger than 23-24 year old players etc. Usually if you are asking for someone under 23 you are looking for upside and they may not be proven at the NHL level. However if they are proven and they are elite no one will move them for Eichel because that respective team has cost certainty with the younger player vs 10.5 million a year.
Clearly what the Sabres are asking for they are not getting right now and NHL teams have minimal interest in paying the price (young elite prospect or prospects who are playing NHL ready hockey and wants value of 4 1st round picks etc.) - given the fact there is no decision on what they are doing with his neck....aka if he gets a cervical neck fusion he can be out of hockey for up to 6 months and if he wants he can drag it out longer he can (while getting paid and putting the sabres in a worse off position). That will put many teams off as they are behind the eight ball on getting this resolved. If they opt to do CDR he will be cleared for play much faster than the fusion and likely ensures he suits up earlier and boosts his trade stock.
When you add up all the variables its more likely that one of two things will happen - they lower the price and move him......or they allow him to get CDR surgery and hope he is playing before trade deadline so they can get a team that is desperate to part with a package closer to what the Sabres want.
