The only reason I though Ottawa might trade Brady Tkachuk is because I don't think Melnyk wants to sign him for a lot of money. Gaudreau had more points than Tkachuk and is underpaid. I redid the trade again and added some more items to make it a little more "realistic". I don't actually expect this trade to happen in any real life scenario I just wanted to see what it would be like to have both the tkachuks on the same team.

I was just trying to get rid of him to make room for other players, I sent him to the non roster instead of trading him.

For your first question, I personally am not a fan of Hanifin and I think he is terrible in his own zone (he has been a minus player his whole career). Fowler is older but scored more points on the bad Anaheim ducks team. Anyways, it doesn't matter because I reverted the trade to make room for Nikita Zadorov.

As for Chara, Jagr played his last season in Calgary so it's not that bad.
