Value wise is fine, but I genuinely believe that A) Gibson [ if traded ] will be traded to the Eastern Conference, and B) I believe Edmonton doesn’t have the assets that Anaheim is really looking for. If they were to trade Gibson, I would expect at top prospect winger, picks and a roster player rather than more possible Top 4 LHD.

I'm with my esteemed colleague @AntreDiAnaheim in believing that we won't trade John Gibson anywhere but East, particularly to a divisional competitor for the balance of Gibson's six-year term. In any event, that's too much for him; I'm on record as saying that Kailer Yamamoto or Dylan Holloway, Evan Bouchard and your 2022 first is a fair return for him.

i wouldnt do this trade as a oilers fan, gibson is on the down and thats way to much for a declining goalie

Gibson seems to have the perception right now of being one of the best goaltenders simply because the team around him is bad. I don't think Gibson himself is "bad", but I also think what he is gets inflated. He hasn't been of the elite level for a few years now. And where it's easy to blame the team, we can see what Ullmark and Kuemper have done for their teams.

No doubt Gibson has that elite form left in him, but is he honestly an elite goaltender this minute?

Fortunately, the value @OldNYIFfan just stated (Bouchard + First) is roughly what I would expect to be fair. It's just odd how despite a bit of fallback lately, the go to theory is that it's only due to the team. I don't think it's just that. But, the ducks are coming out of their rebuild in the next year or two, so I don't think its the right time to trade him.

1. to cap dump koskinnen u only need a 2nd because its only one more year, u only need a 3rd to dump kassian
2.the oilers will trade Lavoie, and a first for Gibson, most likely that gets declined but the oilers would not trade probers and that much draft capital
3. if the oilers want a goalie this year, they go get khudobin for a 4th, and then sign goalie next year in FA
4. EDM still needs a top 4- 6 D that plays defense,. there only answer that is on the trading block right now is Carson Soucy
5. I could see the oilers trading Lavoie, a 2nd and a 3rd for Rakell, then they would be in cup contention (if they have Khudobin and Soucy)

Youre dreaming if you think washed up khudobin and
4-5 dman soucy make you into a cup contender. That defense is still the worst in the league and the goalies are pretty bad. Especially considering we've seen time and time again that defense and goaltending wins in the playoffs.

Khudobin sure as hell Beter than smith and koskinnen no? and Soucy was the 5-4 defenseman on the wild and they have an insane D core
