Literally just signed Vrana today, What’s the point of that trade for Detroit? Doesn’t make them better and it’s not like they are in a cap crunch.

That Edmonton trade doesn't really make sense for either team. Also not enough value to retain that much salary and occupy a retention slot.
I'm not really sure if the value is there for Vrana, Jost is okay, Beaucage seems like a good goal scorer but still unproven and the first will be late.
Don't know much about Mackey to know if that's a good deal for Stetcher or not.

How do you know that Vrana's not in Detroit's long term plans? And Detroit's not all that far from being competitive under the Yzerplan.

I dont think COL could fit under the cap after this deal. Maybe swap Jost for Compher + prospect. Vrana would be a nice fit on the Avs imo but like others have mentioned it would be weird to trade him immediately after signing a contract - if they were shopping him they probably wouldve just traded his rights

just speculation based on his age and that he was only signed 3 years. detroit still has a lot of rebuilding to do.

COL isn’t trading a 1st, their 3C and a decent prospect for a guy that plays on the 2nd line. And the trade isn’t that great for DET either.

He's 25 years old same as Larkin, Detroit doesn't have that far to go. They will be competitive in 3-4 years and he's only 29 then. If he was in his late 20's then i could understand but he's in his mid 20's and still plenty of time.

3 or 4 years they should be back in the playoffs. a few more years to progess. he'll be gone by then for sure. i don't think they'll move him for another 2 seasons tho.
