Fowler's NTC kills the deal likely. Leafs need cap next season. Plus the Leafs have "plenty" of LHD...yeah not as good as Fowler (except Muzzin) but cap will go in other areas.
I don't see what is in for Pittsburg....just one year of Reilly.

For what Pittsburgh is giving up, I'd take a one year of Reilly, but they could possibly sign him, with trading Zucker and Malkin,Letang,Carter contracts expiring they could find a way to sign Reilly.

The pens don’t need Reilly. The pens need to trade a LHD, not take one back in the process. The pens just aren’t a fit for Reilly because they aren’t going to pay premium price for him as they don’t need him.

Fowler was born in Windsor grew up in Detroit area. Not a given that he’s say no to Toronto.

Replacing Pettersson with Reilly is a massive upgrade, so I think it makes sense for Pittsburgh, it is likely their final year of contention, Letang and Malkin could end up leaving in free agency.

The pens without Pettersson or Reilly already have over 9 million tied up in LHD. With Pettersson it is 13 million. Replacing Pettersson with Reilly makes it 14 million. Currently the pens have 121k cap space. Replacing Pettersson with Reilly would put them over the cap. Not to mention Hextall has already preached that they aren’t trading top prospects and high picks for rentals. And no; Malkin, Letang, rust, and possibly Carter are getting extensions within the next couple months to finish their careers on the same timeline as crosby. And I can guarantee that they wouldn’t do Crosby dirty by closing the window after this year or do anything that might do that. They will remain competitive until he retires.

If I remember correctly Toronto was not on Manson nor Fowlers NTC list. That said I dont think Dubas will be doing any big moves like this.

Rielly either goes for picks and prospects or he goes for a cheaper dman and picks like what Risto went for. That Dman fills in the 2nd pair until Sandin proves hes ready to take on the role and that way we slowly transition Sandin in his future role as our new #1 dman

I dont think he would honestly mind. As lets be real put him with the big 4 on pp unit 1 and he would probs get 50+ points. Also as of now that contract be pretty good in comparison to recent signings

Not sure whats gonna happen with Rielly but if Anaheim called Dubas and made an offer which included Fowler dont see why not. Anaheim can get some value then flip Rielly at the deadline for more assets if need be or extend him.
