Varlamov is old asf, and they were in a bidding war

Varlamov is 3 years older than Kuemper. He’s 33 and has been a top 5 goaltender over the last 2 years. A late 1st is realistic

That was an egregious overpay to begin with, either though Varlamov might be worth one second, definitely not 2

Every player signed, both RFA and ufs with get more money, some signings are off way more then others, everyday favours the islanders a little to much.

Decent deal I would be into if we didn’t have kosk or could move kosk for any positive return but since likely need to pay to move kosk contract I don’t think combining the costs is really worth while it’s an upgrade but not a big enough one to justify all the required movement. Nice reasonable try appreciate not seeing a first and high end prospect like seen numerous times.

Its 22-23, Koskinen isn't under contract anymore.

That's a bad comparable.. haha Keumper wasn't worth that. It's that simple. Rip you off? I didn't realize my opinion carries any weight in a professional General managers decision.

Right bc that's obviously what I meant🤡🤡🤡.
And by the way Varlamov is a lot better than Kuemper. If Varly is dealt he brings back a 1st.

Fair enough I missed that. Don’t hate the deal depending on this coming seasons performance.

Tbh if he continues playing at the level he currently is, I wouldn't move him for less than a 1st but that's just my opinion. I wouldn't despise this trade.

We will see what happens. Holland does seem to favour older goalies so this is something I can see happening.
