In case you missed it, I 100% KNOW VANCOUVER MATCHES AND PETTERSSON LIKELY WOULD WANT TO STAY IN VANCOUVER, I GET IT

Its just an interesting situation to imagine landing a bonafide 1c top centre in the league for the forseeable future for this team

Yes they would indeed match that instantly, and he wouldn’t sign that anyways, but imagine you move Smith up to the top line and you have one of thrybest lines in hockey as your 2ND line

If you know all that why bother 🤷🏻‍♂️

Assuming Boston will be better than Calgary is not a given. Not sure what happened in Calgary last year but i’d bet it was an anomaly, they are better than that. Meanwhile Boston will likely be battling Toronto for 3rd and 4th place in the division. I’d say the two teams are fairly close in the standings at years end.

I don’t see Seattle moving picks at this stage of their operations. I know, anyone interested, just an observation.

    But those lines. shakes head

What does Calgary have to do with anything?

Ottawa has Boston’s 3rd which they need for the offer sheet, so OP thinks he can trade Calgary’s 3rd and a 7th to get it back from Ottawa.

Certainly Vancouver matches but does Petterson decline an offersheet and is he happy in Vancouver? I don’t think so.

"I want to stay there now, but I also want to play for a team that's winning and has the chance to go far into the playoffs every year. If we have that chance when my next deal expires... I don't know. I just wanna play where there's a chance of winning."

A player that thinks that considers an offersheet. A player that openly says it certainly does.

The cap is supposed to go up by a million so you probably could offer him an extra 2.5M. Maybe he considers depending on the kind of year the Bruins have?
