How future cup contender should be constructed

Created by: Playersoverpayed
Team: 2021-22 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 21, 2021
Published: Aug. 21, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Move pieces of your strenght for a pieces of someone else's strenght.
Trade Sean Walker during the season if everything falls apart. 2022 draft class is also rich on RHD...
And I would be surprised if Danault stays in LA beyond his NMC (beyond 2023/24).
Trades
1.
LAK
  1. Blomqvist, Joel [Reserve List]
PIT
  1. Anderson-Dolan, Jaret
Additional Details:
PIT need Cs, LAK needs Gs. PIT also has Clang in a pipeline so they could part ways with one of the Blomqvist/Clang. PIT is in a win-now mode (JAD will turn 22 in september), LAK can wait another year or two. Anderson-Dolan for Blomqvist is overpayment on LAK side, but decent G prospects are relatively rare, expensive and hard to acquire.
2.
WSH
  1. Madden, Tyler
  2. Spence, Jordan
Additional Details:
WSH needs RHD prospects, LAK needs bigger LHDs. Alexeyev has advantage against Fehervary on WSH team, while drafting Clarke makes offensive-minded Spence expandable. Fehervary is safer pick and NHL ready so you need to throw something more on a table (Madden). There is likely no roster spot available for Madden in LA, while WSH slightly lacks right-shot Fs.
3.
LAK
  1. Rajaniemi, Matias [Reserve List]
NYI
  1. Andersson, Lias
Additional Details:
Tricking Lou is hardest armchair GM's job. How about former Ranger (no. 7 pick overall) who can play C and cost 2nd round pick for a ˝random˝ 6th rounder? 2017 project for contender vs 2020 prospect for team coming out of rebuild. Andersson can play now, Rajaniemi in a few years. Andersson is on a edge of bust category, while Rajaniemi could be cheap option on LHD in the future.
4.
BUF
  1. Faber, Brock [Reserve List]
  2. Thomas, Akil
Additional Details:
Drafting Power makes Samuelsson expandable. BUF needs almost everything, especially RHDs and Cs, LAK has too many of each kind. Faber is also young all-around prospect which makes sense for tanking team. Samuelsson has medium ceilling, but big players are allways in demand and are not cheap. Thomas could struggle to make LAK team and can benefit from a trade.
5.
NSH
  1. Björnfot, Tobias
  2. Turcotte, Alex
Additional Details:
Third trading piece on LAK side is Joel Blomqvist, previeusly acquired from PIT for JAD.
In 2019 draft LAK had no idea they will select Byfield next year. Other Cs are expandable. Upgrade on G and downgrade on C vs upgrade on C and downgrade on G. It is also worth of note Turcotte is 2 years older than Svechkov and Bjornfot is 2 years older than L'Heureux. Bjornfot is expandable and NAS can use young LHD. L'Heureux is desired caliber, but still young with uncertain future.

Like it or not, players who can contribute sooner are more valuable. And don't worry, every fanbase is biased towards their players/prospects. LAK would also miss JAD's work ethic.

Do you know why JAD was able to get the games played he had? Because LA's offense sucked. Do you know why Blomqvist and Clang havent played? Because our goalie depth is good. I'm not being biased I'm stating facts. Just because he has more nhl experience doesn't mean pens do this. Desmith moby walk in FA, we have Jarry and 3 other young goalies that could be really solid backups. Every pens fan that has posted on here has said that the pens decline. And they said they declined because of Blomqvist. So like it or not, as pens fans we decline.

OK, I'm sure Hextall and Blake respect democracy and will take that into account. Good luck with cup playoffs in 2025 with your Gs and young prospects Crosby and Malkin.

How old is JAD? Cause by the time its 2025, hell be 26. So what's your goal here? Trying to speak for all pens fans and just automatically say it's fair for both teams? Your not understanding that you dont get to decide which trade gets accepted by other teams. You cant say, "oh well this trade is soooo fair and I know you will accept this so accept it". Just dont post for pens fans anymore, cause obviously you're just trying to get into everyone's way

NSH's package has a total of 0 GP in either NHL or AHL. Are you 100% sure both Askarov and Svechkov would come across the ocean? And would like to play for a team in decline?

999% certain. Watch svechkovs draft interview. Besides, Preds wouldn’t make the deal anyway. They like LHereoux and aren’t likely to make a 3 for 2 prospect trade.

It is unusual deal, I agree. NSH like L'Heureux (pro contract), despite being selected after Svechkov. But Turcotte is upgrade on Svechkov and both Svechkov and L'Heureux are years from NHL. That also matters. Turcotte should play at least few games this season, Bjornfot is close to NHL regular. But I get you like Askarov, rightfully so. And don't worry, PIT fans are not happy with trading Blomqvist either (poor man's Askarov). Fans said: no deal. Like always wink

Are you well aware Blomqvist is years away from NHL and JAD has some experience? If it would be that simple teams would just draft Gs in early 2nd round.

What’s your point? You do realize we have a gm now that’s not just going to throw away picks and prospects? The pens want to stay competitive but not at the price of throwing away the future as the pens only have about 3 years left. They will need guys to take over when Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Carter retire.
Good goalie prospects are hard to find. And since he will be a few years away, we don’t have to throw him away the second we get him lol. Pens will wait to get the best deal. And again, JAD kinda sucks at faceoffs. So he would move to wing anyway and we aren’t in any better situation all while throwing away a top prospect.

It's decline. You massively overrated how close prospects are too the NHL. Isles say bellows for Clarke. Kings have to accept because bellows is closer to the NHL than Clarke.

Well they have a total of 0 GP because two of them were drafted last month. The other one is a goalie. When's the last time a goalie played in a season following his draft? Also, why wouldn't they come across? They're still both probably at least two years from being here. NSH should be in an exciting position around then, similar to NJD, LAK, or OTT right now (young, talented, and improving).

??? That's should be funny? Or parody? A bad one because Clarke could be closer to NHL than Bellows wink Lession learned, PIT fans are childish from top to bottom, just trade with a team and go away.

It happens to all of teams. Would NSH fans accept trade for Byfield or Stutzle in raito 1:1? No.
