Make the 1st conditional.
Starts as a 2nd: Habs make the conference finals with Kadri playing 50% of the games, it becomes a 1st.
If Kadri gets suspended during the playoffs, it becomes a 7th. Sticking Out Tongue

Also pretty sure Montreal would be on Kadri's No Trade List so he would nix the deal.

There’s way better options on the market than dummass Kadri and come playoffs time he always have been a liability not on the score sheet but by his braindead decisions like getting suspended as much as the leafs packing their shi-ts after the annual first game exit

I dunno, maybe a chance to stick it to the Leafs for trading him away. Although he should probably thank them for it.

Actually KK as the 2C makes the Habs less likely to give up a 1st for Kadri. KK was able to hold his own defensively in the playoffs and while he didn't put up huge numbers he did finish 5th on the team in scoring in the playoffs. All the while playing with defensive minded forwards like Byron, Lehkonen and Armia. Give KK guys like Hoffman, Drouin, Gallagher, Toffoli and Anderson and you will see his numbers climb exponentially.

That probably won't get retention on Eichel. you have the cap space to eat the full salary

he'd be a passenger but if that's what you want then that's ok. imo he's much better third liner.

So quick to say he won't do well if he is put in a more offensive roll, the guy has had more line combinations over the last 2 years then McDavid has in points. if they actually give him a sense of consistency like year one when he played a majority of the season with Lehkonen and Armia as the youngest player in the NHL then maybe he'll find more consistency on the scoresheet, until then he won't find any kind of confidence having new line mates each night

that sounds good on a rebuilding team or maybe in a smaller role. habs just made the cup finals they can't go back to rebuilding.

The plan should've been to develop youth better over the last 3-4 years, but MB has put the team in a state of being a 18-14 range team, not playoff locked and not top 10 picks.

Now you try to work with the peices and try to quickly reset from webers loss, use this year to understand the young guys and then at the TDL/Next offseason you buy what you need. Winger Depth is Stupidly good now so its obvious we need C and RHD but there just no good fit right now all the UFAs are gone and trading to fill the need is too expensive IMO

Personally im looking at PK or miller for a cheaper 3rd pair next year possibly and then if KK shows up to play then we go for Victor Rask as a solid 3C hole, but if in some world KK, and Poehling both show up then MB looks like a genius while doing nothing at all and we now have a solid young Center core.

There's no good plan to save this year, its on the kids now. Weber is half replaced by Savard and Danualt isn't replaced. All the good UFAs are gone for this year so its praying time and Im okay letting the young kids rock for a year
